Confidence, LGBT & Collaboration

This week I had the pleasure of talking to three amazing Producers – DGeral, DJ Sycophantasy and DJ Eeaazzee.

(Link to the new episode is at the end of this post. Enjoy!)

During my discussions with producers and Djs over the past three weeks the conversation has always gone onto the subject of confidence, particularly of females in the music industry.  It seems this is a topic that everyone feels passionate about and personally I agree.

The Music Industry is a scary place and regardless of how much you might believe in your own music, it is the fear of judgment that slows you down. This should not be the case. We should not be afraid to speak aloud and show our work to the world! We should say “Fuck all” to ourselves and continue with our awesome projects.

There is support for all of us.  One of these amazing organizations is ‘Female Pressure’. They show your talent to the world and help you however they can. We need more of these platforms! ‘Female Pressure’ forwarded my message about this blog to their members and suddenly all these amazing women contacted me from around the world!!! I can’t wait to hear what they all have to say!

Another important topic this week was the LGBT community in the music industry. These awesome ladies gave a brief picture of how it is to be a lesbian DJ/Producer in different countries in 2016. This is an important topic to talk about as the music industry is still super homophobic in certain areas and genres of music. We need to guarantee an equal work space for everyone in the music industry regardless of gender or sexual orientation.
